KARL-HEINZ BAUMANN (PhD)

Marine geologist with an extensive and world-wide experience in paleoceanography and paleoclimatology, using the living and fossil record of coccolithophores as environmental proxies, exploring its seasonal export production and contribution for the seafloor sediment accumulation rate and carbonate budget. He has mainly worked in the Atlantic (i.e., South Atlantic, eastern North Atlantic, Norwegian-Greenland Sea), but also in the upwelling regions off Chile and Somalia. He currently works as a senior-researcher at the University of Bremen and as a research member of MARUM. More info

Gerhard Fischer (PhD)

Gerhard Fischer (PhD)

Marine geologist with a large experience working with marine particle fluxes in topics related to the marine biological carbon pump in the NE Atlantic. Currently works as a Senior-researcher at the University of Bremen and member of MARUM. He has been the project leader of GB1 (Particle flux, carbon turnaover and nutrient regeneration) from 2012-2017, and the main responsible fort the long-term monitoring program at site CB-TSF offshore Cape Blanc (Mauritania), collecting particle fluxes since 1988.. Carolina Sá (PhD)

Carolina Sá (PhD)

Marine biologist with expertise in satellite ocean colour and phytoplankton ecology. Her research interests include the validation of the satellite products, the use of remote sensing data to support phytoplankton ecological studies and water quality monitoring, as well as the use of phytoplankton pigments to assess phytoplankton community temporal and spatial distribution variability. Currently is conducting her postdoctoral research at CIMA-UAlgarve and MARE-University of Lisbon, focusing on the use of ocean colour data for the monitoring of Portuguese waters from Space [PTWATERS-SPACE]. Geologist specialized in micropaleontology (Calcareous nannofossils) with broad experience in topics related to marine paleoecology  and paleoceanography from deep ocean to coastal facies, including multivariate statistical analysis and morphometrics. He currently works as a senior Researcher at IDL/FCiências.ID and as an associate professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. He has been the PI of Portuguese-funded projects and cooperates with several other national and international projects.  More info
