Marine geologist with an extensive and world-wide experience in paleoceanography and paleoclimatology, using the living and fossil record of coccolithophores as environmental proxies, exploring its seasonal export production and contribution for the seafloor sediment accumulation rate and carbonate budget. His main working areas are in the Atlantic (i.e., the South Atlantic, eastern North Atlantic, and the Norwegian-Greenland Sea), but also in the upwelling regions off Chile and Somalia. He currently works as a senior-researcher at the University of Bremen and as a research member of MARUM.
